Panther Springs UMC is one of the oldest churches in the area. Thirty-four years before Hamblen County was organized, in 1836, a local group of people built a log cabin somewhere approximately 200 yards from Panther Springs. That cabin was appropriately named Panther Springs Methodist Church. The church was used for over a hundred years but has since been moved to accommodate the growth. We are now located at 4555 Andrew Johnson Hwy, Morristown, Tennessee.
If you are considering a new place of worship or a relocating to our area, we would love to have you be our guest.
When you visit our church, you will find:
Do you know how to KNIT or CROCHET? Would you like to learn to KNIT or CROCHET?
You are invited to join the church’s PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY.
If you’ve never done knitting or crochet, but would like to learn, we will be happy to teach you. If you know how to knit or crochet, but your skills are rusty, we will help to refresh them. If you already have advanced knitting or crochet talents, why not utilize your abilities to provide a gift of love and comfort to someone in need? Shawls can be stitched using simple, basic stitches or with more advanced complicated stitches. The choice is yours.
The Prayer Shawl crafters create shawls that are given to members of our congregation and those within the community who are struggling with unfortunate health or other challenges. The shawls are prayed over as they are made, and they are blessed once completed. Our goal is to brighten someone’s day and remind him/her of God’s love and strength in times of need.
We meet in the Fidelis classroom (Room 3) on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month between 6:00 and 6:15 p.m. and we craft for about an hour. If you have any questions, please contact April Mohr, 423-616-0192, or Carol Fuller, 423-312-0877.
Panther Springs UMC is now partnering with Corners of Your Field, a partnership opportunity between local churches and Knox Area Rescue Ministries. This program encourages attendees of partner churches to be intentional about selecting their gently used household items for donation to KARM Stores. The stores then return a portion of the value of these items in the form of gift cards to the churches to help those directly in their care.
How does Corners of Your Field help our Church? It provides a practical way to meet the Biblical mandate of caring for the hurting and homeless, and gives us a plan to do so. Beginning with gift cards to KARM Stores, it puts resources in the hands of every partner church.
How does this partnership work, practically? The process is quite simple. Individuals or families donate their gently used items to KARM Stores. The KARM Stores employee serving them will ask the name of your church. Quarterly, our church will receive gift cards to KARM Stores that can be given to anyone who comes to our church in need. And, donors are still able to take advantage of the tax deduction with every gift to KARM Stores.
