Children's Ministry

Panther Springs United Methodist Church is a family of faith that is passionate in its commitment to children and families.  We seek to walk each person through all ages and stages of life, striving daily to live lives as Jesus did thought, word, and deed.  At Panther Springs our goal is to provide Christ-centered, faith filled experiences through Bible study, music, missions and activities.  We offer special programs for our children and the community throughout the year:Vacation Bible School, Fall Harvest Festival, Breakfast with Santa, Children’s Christmas Cantata, and a community Easter egg hunt.  These community events add opportunities for fun and fellowship for our children and families in the community.  The children also do several mission projects throughout the year.

Our Vision for the Children of Panther Springs United Methodist Church is that they will know Christ, understand His word, grow in their spiritual walk and be able to share the love of Christ with others.

Our Mission is to teach the children the love of Christ and the joy of his forgiveness and salvation, to help them learn the truth of his word, to encourage their growth within the body of believers.

The Children’s Ministries stay very busy at Panther Springs United Methodist Church, on Sunday mornings and Wednesday night. During both services, we have an opportunity for children of all ages to come to the front and interact with the ministers in an abbreviated message, usually based on the lectionary readings for that Sunday. Children who are not yet in Kindergarten or younger may be taken to the infant, toddler, or preschool immediately following this time. Children who are 5 years old and older remain in the sanctuary for the full worship service.

Nurseries are available for both Services and Sunday School.

Infant and Toddler nurseries: The infant and toddler rooms offer age appropriate playscapes, toys and visuals. We employ 1 paid professional child care worker.

ALL children – of any age – are welcome in and encouraged to be present at worship services, either at 8:40 a.m. or at 10:50 a.m.

The Wednesday night activities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a fellowship dinner for everyone.  At 6:15 p.m. the children go to children choir, The Little Angel (age 3 to 4) meet in the kindergarten room and children Kindergarten -5th grade meet in the Sanctuary. At 6:45 p.m. the children go to class for  Bible study and mission project

Safe Sanctuaries

Panther parings United Methodist Church abides by policies recommended by the “Safe Sanctuaries” program and mandated by the General Conference of the United Methodist Church.  This program is designed to prevent child abuse by implementing preventative measures.

We update our policy annually to ensure it includes the latest recommendations for safety. Here are a few of the highlights:

All employees and volunteers must have a criminal background check.

All volunteers must be affiliated (though not necessarily a member) with the church for 6 months prior to volunteering.

2 adults must be present in the room during classes or other church events.

Parents/Guardians must sign in and out their child.

Windows are in all classroom doors.

Open-Door” Counseling -  if a child needs to meet with a pastor or mentor, the meeting must either include the child’s parent or be in an open area, not behind closed doors.

5 year older rule: we require volunteers to be 5 years older than those they supervise. For example, a 19 year old college student could not supervise a high school student.
