Our Words for God's Glory

Mark 8:27-30 Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah

27 Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?” 28 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.” 29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.” 30 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.

Last weekend I got the privilege of attending Resurrection with the youth from Panther Springs on Friday and part of Saturday. Each Resurrection weekend has memories and hopefully something we take with us that help us to continue our walk with Christ. Our devotion Friday night was about WORDS how we can use them for good or evil. We each read a verse from the Bible about our words, an example was Proverbs 16:24 “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”

The main scripture from the Resurrection speaker that night was the Mark text listed above. And so we pondered, prayed, and came to the Holy Communion table seeking the Messiah and asking him to guide our words; our words we speak, our words we write, our words we text, tweet, facebook, asking God to use our words to proclaim the goodness of God and our love for our Messiah, Jesus.

May we all ponder our words and may they be used for God’s glory in all things so that we would not offer suggestions like the other disciples but be able to answer like Peter “You are the Messiah”.

God Bless,

Pastor Kristen
