  • Welcome Back to In-Person Worship

I am so excited to be able to welcome everyone back to in-person worship.  We will gather for our first time since March 8th on July 5th at 10:30. When you come back, there are a few things you need to know. First, worship won’t be the way it’s always been. Personally, I think that could be a very good thing for growth. We know we live in a different world than even just a few months ago, so maybe this time apart has made us more adaptable. If we want to grow the Kingdom, we must be adaptable.

I know that not everyone feels comfortable in gathering at this time and that is perfectly OK. We will continue live-streaming on facebook and posting to the church website.

With that said, we want to keep everyone safe, especially since there have been recent rises in the cases of Covid-19 in Hamblen County. So the first big thing you need to know is that everyone must wear a mask the entire time they are in the building. Don’t worry if you don’t have one, we will have them for you.

When you arrive at church, please park in the back or the side parking lot because you will need to enter through the fellowship hall doors. When you arrive someone will check your temperature with a no-touch thermometer. You will then be checked in so that we have an accurate attendance list. This is so that folks can be notified of any potential exposure, should the need arise.

While some of the aspects of worship will also be different, I have no doubt that we can still have a meaningful time of worship as we open our hearts to the Holy Spirit. We won’t be able to sing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hum and dance before the Lord or lift your hands in praise, as music is provided in a different way.

Our first Sunday back is Holy Communion Sunday and that will be different as well. Because of the risk of spreading germs, we cannot receive communion by intinction. As you enter the building, you will be invited to pick up pre-packaged elements and bring them with you to the sanctuary. I will give you more instructions on how this will work on Sunday.

I realize that this is all very different and some people don’t like that we can’t have everything the way we are used to it being, so I would ask you to be in prayer for hearts that are receptive to the Holy Spirit leading us to new ways to worship. Also to be in prayer for God’s hand of protection over all of the churches that are beginning to gather again.

Through all of this, I do believe that God is doing a new thing and we just need to be ready to join Him in his amazing redemptive work.

    Blessings,

    Pastor Cindy

We are a community of imperfect people who are seeking and worshiping a perfect God. We are a people of faith that seeks and desires to follow God and God’s ways.

The love of Jesus motivates us to reach out to the world around us, loving others with the love that comes from God Himself. We seek to be disciples and make disciples. We do this through being a people who pray, who worship, who give, who serve and who seek to have an authentic witness. We are all on the journey of faith. Come…let us journey together

We are a local congregation of the United Methodist Church. This church has a long history of an active, Christian presence in Morristown which has been and continues to be involved in our community and world.

Thirty-four years before Hamblen County was organized, in 1836, a local group of people built a log cabin somewhere approximately 200 yards from Panther Springs. That cabin was appropriately named Panther Springs Methodist Church. The church was used for over a hundred years but has since been moved to accommodate the growth. We are now located at 4555 Andrew Johnson Hwy, Morristown, Tennessee.

As we are one of the oldest congregations in Morristown, we celebrate the richness in our tradition and heritage, but also strive to expand our experience by adapting and changing to meet the needs of our community and world today. All who desire to grow in the grace and knowledge of the love of Christ are welcome to join us on the journey.

If you are considering a new place of worship or a relocating to our area, we would love to have you be our guest.

When you visit our church, you will find:

  • A friendly and caring congregation that will gladly welcome you
  • Preaching and teaching that is centered on the Word of God
  • Ministries for every age
